      The hardware and software configuration of host computer and data processing computer used by Shimadzu's ICPS-1000Ⅱplasma spectrometer is analyzed. The scheme how to complete the data communication and data processing by adding a IEEE 488 card in the personal computer is introduced. The old special computer by a personal computer was replaced. The working principle, software structure and the using result of this system are expatiated in detail. The advantages useing this method to alter the instrument of this type are follows: it's simple and doable, the investment and risk are small, but there is a great benefit, a great deal of functions are enlarged in the old equipment.
